Matt's Surgery
Matt's eyes have been progressively getting worse double vision for about 7 years now and it was time to correct the problem. With double vision you have to have prism in the lens and when you have prism in your Rx, you are unable to go without glasses or even wear contacts.
His doctor did the surgery on both eyes. After the surgery he came out and reported the surgery went perfectly. We had a post-op appointment this morning and everything is still looking fantastic. A lot of the time when people have surgery on the eye muscle the doctor will over correct the problem and leave the stitches in and then during the post-op appointment he can fine tune it and permanently tie the stitches off. Today, no fine tuning was needed as everything was in line. We will go back tomorrow morning for the doctor to double check and decide if he wants to fine tune anything. Once his eyes heal he still won't have 20/20 vision since he had a small Rx even without the prism before the surgery so he will still wear glasses which is no biggie because he actually likes the option to accessorize with glasses. The important part is that he will now be able to wear contacts instead of glasses which will be so nice in certain cases, ie; when he goes snowmobiling/skiing (no more fogging up) or plays other sports (can you imagine trying to catch a baseball when there are two of them flying at you?). If he ever decided he doesn't want glasses he will now be a candidate for lasik as well. His eyes are really red and we expect them to be for about a week. We also expect some bruising and swelling around the eyes in the next couple of days. We are so happy that the surgery went well and that Matt no longer has to live with seeing 2 of everything!

Best Friends Forever
As I was sitting at the kitchen table surrounded by a pile of envelopes and Christmas cards and he was sitting on the living room couch watching TV and snuggling with Drama, I began reading about the beginning stages of our relationship, remembering them like they were yesterday, and I couldn't help but feeling so lucky that he chose me!!! I came across one special entry that I have to share. We had been dating for about 5 months and we went for a drive (one of our favorite things to do late at night). We were talking and I pulled out my journal and showed him an entry that I had written down all the reasons I love him (It was only a week after we had said the LOVE word for the very 1st time...). After he read what I wrote, I had him write in my journal and this is what he wrote:
I think that your owner is the coolest girl the whole world! I get to spend a lot of time with her and I grow to love her more every time I see her. She is the prettiest girl ever with those big blue eyes and inviting smile. I've loved her for this whole year (not just 2005). I have never felt so comfortable and felt so much for a single person before. My absolute most favorite thing in the world is to hold her in my arms for hours and just be there and talk. Our bodies seem to fit like they were custom built to fit so good. I love to hold her hand with our "patented hand hold" wherever we go. I love to be known as Matt and Tatum. It feels better than I ever imagined. She has more of an impact on me than she will ever know.
She is my best friend.
YOU'RE MY BEST FRIEND TOO, BABE!

We are coming up on our 2nd anniversary in a couple of weeks and life with Matt gets better and better everyday! I am so happy that we are together hand in hand (with the patented hand hold, of course!) in all that we do.
MATT, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

LOVE
I guess it is good to mix my trips up once in a while though cause it seemed like I had been gone forever to Matt too and it turned out to be a good thing! Absence really does make the heart grow fonder and makes us appreciate each other a little more. When I came home, I found and a sexy man waiting outside for me to wrap me up in his arms as soon as I stepped out of my car. After our embrace he walked me up to the condo so I could get changed and I opened the door to find a SPOTLESS (we're talking dishes dones, dusted, vacuumed, beds made and even toilets scrubbed) house, diapered dog (yes, she's in heat), pretty fall rust-orange daisy flowers along with 2 ghiradeli chocolate bars on the counter...I was seriously tearing up! How sweet is that! Then he took me on a shopping spree to Nordstroms where I got new shoes, pea coat and scarf! Maybe 3 day trips aren't so bad after all!
Hmmm....Wonder what would happen if I went on a 4 or 5 day trip! jk. It's not even worth it.
I normally try not to get too mushy on the blog but I had to cause if you know Matt, you know that this is nothing like him since this only like the 3rd time I've gotten flowers in the past 5 years so it pretty much made my day!
I love you Matt! Thanks for making home so sweet to come home to! I missed you and Drama tons while I was gone and I'm so happy to be home with you again!

Baseball season is officially here...

When Matt and I were dating I would watch baseball games with him (and pretend like I enjoyed it). Matt is a die hard Red Socks fan and a hard core Yankee hater. He says that I tricked him into falling in love with me by acting like I loved baseball...He feels so jipped that I really don't enjoy to sit on my butt and watch a 3+ hour slow going game, it cracks me up! I absolutely love to play it (or softball), but watching it ion TV isn't that fun to me (Actually going to a ball park is a whole other story...that is fun). I did watch it on TV when we were dating (cause that is when I would get cuddle time on the couch with him) and I still sit here on the couch and watch (or should I say listen to) it with him. Only now that we are married, I am over in my corner of the couch blogging and he is sprawled out on the opposite corner looking completely comfy with his glove on his left hand and a baseball in his right while grinning from ear to ear and his eyes glued to the game.
We thought about going to a Bee's game on Sunday and enjoying the nice weather while being outside but we didn't end up going. I am sure we will hit up a few of those games this year. After all it is "America's Pastime." What's not to love about sitting outside in beautiful weather watching fine butted men play ball while chomping on a hot dog and some nachos?

Male Bonding...
I was in Texas last week so Matt took a trip down to E-town to go snowmobiling with my dad. Here are the pics.
My dad talked Matt into jumping his first cornice so here is the evidence that he did it...See why I worry!
Not only do they not avoid avalanches, they cause them by doing this!!!
On another note (while I am talking about my daddy) we just want to congratulate him...He got a job as the PG Junior High Principal so he will finally be able to live with his wife in Pleasant Grove! I talked to them on the phone tonight and they are so excited. She is a little worried about moving a country boy to the city, but I think he will do great! Anyway, Congrats Father!!!

News...
He will start there on March 24th. For the first few months he will be working in Salt Lake. After he has finished training there, he will be transferred to the American Fork office.
Our lives are about to change so much! No more carefree living and traveling wherever and whenever we want. That makes me sad, but hopefully life will still be fun! We will keep you updated on how it goes for him.

Boys and their Toys
I had a great childhood enjoying all of my dads outdoor/active hobbies.
Now that I am married I continue to enjoy most of those things with my husband. Matt, like my dad loves recreation! He has promised me that someday we WILL own a boat! (going boating is my favorite).
But it is looking like the first big toy purchase is gonna be a Snowmobile. We went sledding (on the Camp property custom made sledding hill) the other day with my family and some friends and we had about 6 snowmobiles there and Matt was a driver on one of them and got attached! My uncle Mitch was there and told us that he is selling his cause his wife wasn't too happy when he didn't talk to her before buying it!! Matt has been on the internet ever since and researching every angle of every sled. He has been pretty interested in Mitch's sled so he's made a phone call or two with him trying to make a deal. I will keep you posted if we actually go through with this purchase!

I stand corrected!
I guess I should've called my last post "Husband Heaven." After I was finished posting "Housewife Heaven," along with checking my usual websites (my email, facebook and skywestonline), I looked at the spot next to me on the couch where Matt was sitting watching TV when I sat down to do my computer stuff and he had somehow snuck out of the room without me even noticing! I got up curious to see where he was and what he was up to. I found him in the laundry room putting a load of our clothes in the washer! Ha ha! In the time that I had been on the computer (maybe 20 minutes), Matt had read the owners manual for both machines and was ready to try them out! I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, because that is totally how he is with everything...especially if it is in any way electronic! He is obsessed with all the bells and whistles that technology creates for him to discover! And when he finds something that we are in need of it is a process he goes through before we can buy it...no impulse buys for this guy!
First, he will spend hours on the internet researching it and reading consumer reports, then he will go to every (and I mean every) store within 100 miles that sells the make and model of whatever it is he is currently obsessed with (he keeps up on all the new toys so his obsession changes weekly! As soon as he has researched one thing to death, he moves on to the next) at least two or three times and spends all afternoon (literaly) talking to and quizzing the sales reps at these stores about all the functions and capabilities of it. Then he will go home and with more knowledge under his belt, he'll then try the internet again for even more helpful information. After he weighs and measures it, he goes back to each store for round two to get the best deal...and whichever store he can somehow talk down the price of the item, he buys from! Then, Like I said he thoroughly reads the owners manual and starts playing with it! He is funny that way! It is so annoying for me because I am a total impulse shopper...if I want it, I buy it...no questions asked! Ha Ha! But, I like the way Matt goes about it, because I can always trust that he will make a well informed, smart decision that we won't regret!
This vast knowledge of technology and electronics that Matt has is a well known fact by most...I guess that is why all his friends and family call him for advice when they are making the big purchases themselves! Anyway, he did every load of laundry in our home yesterday and was up until 1:00 am finishing it! He has been surprising me lately with how sweet and helpful he can be around the house! I love it!
Well, It is early and dark outside and I have to be to work in an hour and a half so I will end this post! I will be in Austin, Chicago and Cinncinati this week...until next time!
Oh, and sorry the pic is sideways...I am not sure how to flip it on Mac computers...I guess I should ask Matt! ha!
