AS PROMISED...

Today we:
* got to tend my awesome cousin Nicole's 5 month old smiley little butterball, Russell, for the whole afternoon. No pics, but believe me, he is OH SO PRECIOUS! What fun!

To Jamie and all other speculators:
I may or may not be baby hungry, but just to be clear, I am definitely not preggo!
I just go through these baby lovin/wantin stages, so I:
1- look at cute baby pics of Matt and Me and think about what our future offspring will look like, and
2- make bows for no good reason other than to put those pink vibes out into the universe when that day comes...
(CALL ME CRAZY...It's true!)
but today, is not that day...not yet, at least!
Anyway, back to today :)

*made some zucchini bread (YUM) while Russell napped.

* went for a ride all around Alpine and Draper at sunset/moonrise (aka: dusk) and had deep conversations with each other...I love our nightly rides to nowhere and intimate chats.

BTW...did anyone see the moon tonight? It was awesome! It was the smallest sliver of a crescent (with Jupiter and Venus in tow) and no other stars in the sky...so pretty!

and last, but not least we...

TODAY WAS A VERY GOOD DAY!

Two Buck Tuesdays!!!

At Thanksgiving Point they are offering (for a limited time) a $2 per venue admission fee on Tuesdays! That is a pretty sweet deal because regular adult admission is about $10 per venue and $6 for kids. Tonight, Matt and I decided to take advantage of it since it was such a beautiful day and so close to our house. We chose to see the Gardens this Tuesday and they were beautiful! Neither of us had ever been and when we walked out to see them the same thought came to both of our minds...It looked so similar to the grounds of Chateau de Versailles in France (which was a famous residence for French Kings and also where Marie Antoinette's had her own garden and village). It was beautiful. We enjoyed walking around on the paths and bridges taking in all the bright colored flowers, well groomed green grass, statues, secret gardens, and western hemispheres largest man-made waterfalls. There were tons of kids there all decked out in their bathing suits like they were ready to go to a water park! And that is exactly how they treated it. They were all having a good splash in all the fountains, rivers, falls and pools throughout the gardens. After the regular gardens, we went to the Children's Discovery Gardens where there were even more kids playing in the water, hedge mazes and tunnels. It was a good time and a great deal, if you haven't been now is the time to take advantage of it!


















Sidenote: Yes, Matt has given himself a buzz cut...hmmm. Don't worry though, the fo-hawk will be back soon for fam pics in October.

We've been scheming...

...and here is what we came up with:
So...we want to have more fun in life and go on more vacations with each other while we are young and don't have kids or much other obligations and responsibilities. We are lucky enough to get good deals on flights with my jobs benefits so we can explore the world but the only problem is that once we get somewhere we have to stay in the cheapest, dumpiest hotel cause all the good ones are out of our price range. Well...last month I went part time as a flight attendant and started looking around for a job at a hotel so we could have the best of both worlds. So guess what?! As of today we have it and now our

LIFE IS OFFICIALLY A VACATION!!

That's right! I am the newest employee at the Hampton Inn at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi!


(I know, I shouldn't be this excited about this job but I can't help it! This means we can actually afford to leave Utah and have some fun exploring the outside world.) With working at a Hilton property you get benefits of discounted rooms at all Hiltons, Doubletree, Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites, Hilton Garden Inn and of course, the



With being a flight attendant I have stayed at my fair share of hotels and Hamptons are my favorite. They are so nice with comfy beds, clean rooms, free fresh breakfast every morning and fresh cookies every night and they are very affordable for the average family. I am excited to be part of that environment. I will be helping with the breakfast and the front desk. My boss seems totally flexible and makes it all about me. I can choose when I work and he will totally work around my other schedule. It seems like a sweet deal. The only problem is that now that I have 2 jobs, when am I ever gonna have time for a vacation....oh brother~
OK, Yeah right...there will be vacations and there will be lots, so if an of you wanna join us, just call us and we can plan some fun things to do for a great deal!

Hiking

On Sunday we wanted to do something fun so we drove up Provo Canyon and hiked Stuart Falls. It was such a pretty hike and so refreshing to be outside in the beautiful weather! Have I mentioned that I love this time of year?
We even took Drama with us and we fully expected to have to carry her for at least part of it since she is still so young, but we didn't! She loved frolicking in the mountains with us, it was a good time! We jogged parts of the trail and she kept up with us. We all slept like babies when we got home though! It was a good work out and hopefully we will be able to do many more day hikes like that one this summer cause we loved every minute of it!

What does chocolate licorice, pepper spray and tulips have in common?

They all make nice Easter gifts!! My dad gave me some chocolate licorice (my fave), Matts parents gave me pepper spray (that will be nice to have since I go to so many big cities alone), and Matthew gave me the prettiest yellow tulips...and they are potted so they won't die...if I remember water them that is!
Since Matt was out of town, I picked up extra work to stay busy and make a little extra money on Easter and then met up with him at My dad and Trudsters house in PG that night with Colton too for a yummy Easter dinner.
When I was younger the traditional easter gift for us kids was shoes for spring and summer so I told Matt that we can go shopping to get him some new shoes and he said well if that's the tradition I guess we'll have to get you some too! Yay! Shoes are my fetish and we live right by a DSW so I am always tempted!
Today is Matts first day at work so I was woke up to him asking where his nose hair trimmers are and some random picture of he and I that he wanted to put in his folder and take with him. I just had to laugh at that! He is funny!
Since Matt is starting this new job at Fidelity he will be missing a lot of his shows...namely ESPN and Law and Order Marathons so we had to break down and get TiVO today! I am so excited for it!! Now we can watch our favorite programs any time of day if we record them!
Anyway, I hope you all had a great holiday! I love all holidays! It's always nice to celebrate something with family and friends!

Lately...

I haven't been on the blog for a while so I thought I'd catch you up with what we've been doing lately...Here is the short version.

-Matt finally got a snowmobile...it's all he ever wanted and more!
-I got a pedicure...We decided I like to spend a little money everyday on the little things...groceries, getting my hair done, a new shirt or shoes, house decorations and pedicures...while Matt goes through famines of not spending any money to feasts of spending it all at once on the Big Screen TV's, Cars and Snowmobiles. The funny thing is, he is the one calling me "high maintenance!"
-We drove to Richfield for the State Basketball Tournament. McKell and her team took 3rd. It was really fun to watch her, she sooooo aggressive, she makes us proud. Matt calls her Rodman, cause she is a rebounding fool. She is only 5'3" and she out rebounds the big girls at post.
-We found out my dad's uncle's wife passed away...sad, but a blessing. She had lived through several strokes that incapacitated her, so I am sure she is in a better place.
-In the down time of the tournament I got to hang out with Lindsey and Swayzee Mason, so much fun...as usual. Matt got to take his sled out for the first ride with my dad...They loved it.
-Manti boys were in the championship game so we were at the gym all day to watch Matt's alma mater play too....They took 1st!
-Jeslie and I had a little wrestling match...I WON!!! Then my dad and I had a little leg wrestling match...I LOST :( ...figures
-After the games ended, we drove to Ephraim with Steve and Joyce to spend Saturday night.
-On Sunday we chilled out all day long and watched a little of the Oscars that night while gorging on popcorn ( A Joyce Olsen original Sunday night snack!).
-We also went down to the Ephraim assisted living home to pay a visit to both of Matt's grandmas who are living there...that's always a good time....
-Lucille (Matt's paternal grandma) and I kissed on the lips! Weird, but funny story! haha...I wasn't expecting it! As we say goodbyes I usually give her a hug, but this time she pulled a fast one on me! That's ok, I kiss my grandmas too...it was just random...so I laughed!
-We also found out that Matt will be saying a prayer at that same grandmas funeral...is that weird to already have the program planned and obituary written?
-We went out to the Olsen's cabin up at Accord Lakes to spend Monday night and snowmobile some more. As we were driving up there My dad called and he had the girls over for FHE so they decided to load up his sled and come too.
-Jeslie informed us that she made the decision to live with my dad and Trudy next year...cue the heavenly choir! HALLELUJA!
-We all had a good time together in the cozy cabin and ate yummy steaks.
-There was SO much snow in the mountains that the cabin was almost snowed in, so we spent all of today digging it out and cleaning off the deck to is wouldn't collapse.
-Now we are back in Ephraim...all four of us are so sore from shoveling all the snow...so I decided to blog!
-We were going to drive home tonight but Matt's dad bribed us to stay by offering to take us to the movie Fools Gold tonight...if we have enough energy that is :) So we are here in E-town still.
This little trip keeps getting longer and longer...we both love to come home and see our families so much that we can't bring ourselves to leave! Needless to say, I have had to wash our underwear two times now since we have stayed so many extra days! It's all been worth it though! We have had so much fun, but the saddest thing is that I forgot the camera...so there are not fun pics to share...oh well, we'll keep the memories.
Anyway, that is our lives as of lately....We will be heading back home tomorrow morning. Matt has two interviews this week. One with Heritage Financial and the other with Fidelity Investments...I will keep you posted on how that goes for him!

I wish...

...I was one of those girls who didn't have to wear make-up!! I have never had the greatest skin but since college it has gotten so much worse! I thought you were supposed to have break-outs when you were 12 not 22...ughh!

...I could sing in tune! I sing the Star Spangled Banner at least once a day for practice (yes, I am that nerdy) Hmmm...I will probably never learn how to if I haven't by now ...Once again...I thought 12 year olds voices were supposed to crack, not mine!

...I had a sense of decorating and home fashion. Matt and I went to 3 different Targets (hitting the tail end of the global bazzar), Ikea, Pier One and Tai Pan Trading and even D.I. this afternoon in search of little knick-knacks and cute decor...only to come home with a pair of $10 shoes from one of the Targets cause my feet were so hurting in my 3 inch boots after hiking through Ikea. I suck at decorating my house!


I think today was just one of those days...thanks for listening to me ramble!
