My best friend Katie and I went to St. George and Zions for a girls trip this week. We had a great time together. While we were there we got to hang out with our gorgeous friend JaLee for an afternoon. We had tons of fun and lots of laughs. The first day we spent at the pool, eating, talking, watching movies and driving around. It was a chill day but lots of fun. The only bad part is that I didn't take a single picture this day.
The second day our plan was to go on a hike around St. George. When we woke up, Katie said, "ya know Tay...the more I think about it, the more I think we should just go do a hike at Zions." I was all for it! I don't know how she managed this while living in Utah her whole life but Katie had never been to Zions before so that was it. Our decision was made and we drove out to Zions. I have been there several times and done all the hikes once or twice so on the drive out we were talking about which hike we were going to do. I would give her a brief description of each hike I could remember and she chose Angels Landing. I was fine with that decision cause that is probably my favorite Zions hike. We stopped in Hurricane and stocked up on Water, Snacks and pain relievers for our hike. We were so excited!

Here we are on the bus ready to hike Angels Landing
Our hike got off to a great start. It was great weather, beautiful surroundings and we were getting a great workout. We were both having a great time. We kept passing people that were on there way down. Some of them would give us words of encouragement. After each of them passed, some of them as old as 70 and some of them as young as 5, I would turn and tell Katie, "if they can do it, you can do it." and she would agree.
As you can see, Kate thought she was pretty tough....
It's kind of amazing she is even smiling in this picture. She was so scared! I thought she was just kidding about being scared, but it turns out she wasn't...Once we hit the chains she started walking like a grandma and rambling on and on about how scary this is and how she couldn't believe people came up here without any chains to hold onto just so they could install them for future hikers...what she was really trying to say is: blah blah blah I'M A NERVOUS WRECK!!
We hiked for a ways and then all of the sudden Katie sat down indian style in the middle of the trail and proclaimed "I'm DONE!!" I was thinking she meant she wanted to take a break for a minute so I tried to get her drink some water, or eat a granola bar but she didn't want any of it....she'd had it with Angels Landing! She really was DONE and she wasn't kidding.
I was a little confused cause we were soooo close to the top and I couldn't understand why she didn't even care to hike 20 more yards to reach the top. She was completely over it. This is the point where her tears came and I felt like a horrible friend for even bringing her up there. Then, she called her husband to let him know she loved him and their son. And then we turned around and hiked back down.
In the moment, she was scared and crying and I was frustrated and confused but once we were back down to the car we were already laughing about it and we are still BFF's!
We both had a fun trip and we were both glad to come home to our families.
