Now, I need some input...What color should I paint them?
Should we stick with a safe color like cream or black or should we go bright and funky?

GO FUNKY!!!! If you don't like it, its just paint and you can always paint over it! I love unusual colors. It just makes the space lots more fun :O)
I'm with Tori - bright and funky. Hot pink, Yellow, Teal, and Green. :)
Well being the person I am personaly I like it how it is now,just stain it with a clear coat. But that's just me.
