Dear Family & Friends,
It's that time of year, once again. Time for the annual Christmas letter. I love the holiday season and hope this finds you and all of your loved ones well and happy this year. I will cut right to the chase and sum up our past year.
We had a great 2010. In the Spring time we went on the trip of a lifetime to Southeast Asia. We spent some time in both Thailand and Cambodia and we instantly fell in love. The people, the food, the beauty, the history, the culture. It was all SO good. We: went to Angkor Wat (AMAZING), Matt held hands with a Monk (ask him about it), played with orphans that live in the jungle, went on a boat ride through a floating village, adjusted quickly to the CrAzY driving skills of the South East Asians, had our first experience with backpacking and hostels and traveling with no flat iron or blow dryer, drove a Tuk Tuk through a red shirt (political) rally, went on a boat to Koh Phi Phi, snorkeled, saw a lot of "lady boys" get their groove on, got scammed into paying for the most expensive (and delcious) fresh sea food meal ever, shopped our hearts out and got amazing deals and lots of knock offs...and so much more!
Our trip was simply unforgettable. We hope to go back to Southeast Asia in the (near) future.
When we came home we were blessed with additions to the both the Camp AND Olsen Families. Colton and Jeanna had baby girl, Jada and Shelly and Darin adopted baby boy, Noah. We are officially Aunt Tatum and Uncle Matt now...so proud!
In May, I turned the magic number 25...and I am finally old enough to rent a car! It was a good thing too...for my birthday Matt took me to San Francisco for a few days and he forgot his license so I was able to save the trip and put the car in my name for no extra "under age fee." We had a blast in San Francisco...it is always one of our favorite cities to spend time in. We shopped, ate delicious food, saw Muir Woods, Half Moon Bay and went to a Ben Folds concert. It was a great little get-a-way!
In the summer we enjoyed a couple more get-a-ways to the great North West cities of Seattle and Vancouver. I picked up flights with long overnights and Matt came with to play. In both cities we enjoyed hiking. In Vancouver we went to Granville Island and Whistler. In Seattle we saw the famous Pikes Market, Space Needle and the Puget Sound.
Summer time brought lots of fun weekend trips with our families and friends. We were able to go to the Lake with my mom and sisters...including an unforgettable comedy of errors sort of trip to Lake Powell. As Jeslie put it, "I had fun...just not as much fun as I planned on having." It was one of those trips where everything that could go wrong did but we were with people we love so it was still a great time. We also spent a good amount of time in the mountains at the beloved cabin with the Olsens.
In the Fall, we got the itch to go on a trip somewhere and Matt had some vacation hours at work to use so we went to the library and got a Lonely Planet Egypt book one day, came home and packed our backpacks that night, dropped Drama off at some very good friends house in the wee hours of the morning and boarded our flight from Salt Lake to New York then onto Cairo that night! We spontaneously left without making any plans and the trip was (amazingly) still a success! We: saw the Pyramids, visited Egyptian Museum and saw actual mummies that have been preserved, Citadel Mosque, camped in the desert, sailed on the Nile and got a few souvenirs including "walking pneumonia" just in time to bring it home with me on the 25 hours of plane rides home!
In November, Matt turned 29 and we went to Sufjan Stevens in concert at Kingsbury Hall...we are still listening to his album nonstop, it is so good.
My little sister McKell married Richard Nielson on November 12th. Their wedding day was wonderful, and they make a lovely couple. Richard is a great guy to have around...rumor is he will be cooking us a seafood feast on Christmas Eve...I love him already!
Thanksgiving was at our house this year and thanks to my sweet mother in law Joyce, everything was fabulous.
We just celebrated 4 years of marriage at a resort in Park City for a few days...it's amazing how fast the time goes by. With each passing year our love grows...it's great to go through life with your best friend.
We are so grateful for all of you, our family and friends, and the roles you play in our lives. We hope you had a great 2010 and here's to an even more fabulous 2011.
With Love,
Matthew and Tatum Olsen

Tatum and Matt,
I was just catching up with you two on your blog and I have to admit, I am a little jeal... Egypt, Thailand, and Cambodia- you guys get around! Anyway, what I really wanted to comment about was your picture at Ensign Peak. That place is special to Mari and I because we got engaged there during a beautiful sunset in 2007. Matt you have good taste.
